New Developments on the Energy Markets

Course Components

2 SWS Seminar (0330 L 526)

3 ECTS (to complete the lecture Energy Systems with 9 ECTS)

Note: The course is provided every semester.


This lecture is designed to complete the lecture "Energy Systems" during summer term. The students will hold a 20-minute presentation about a current topic of interest in the energy sector. The participants will receive 9 credit points for both parts after completing this seminar. Please pay attention to the requirements listed below.

Topic assignment

There will be a list of topics to chose from, but it is also possible to contribute own suggestions. Topics will be assigned after announcement in the ISIS-course of the lecture. You can find more information here or in the ISIS course.

Certification and grade

  1. To participate in this course, a successful participation in the lecture "Energy Systems" (i.e. at least passing the written exam) or "Energy Economics" is required
  2. Presence is required
  3. A grade will only be awarded for the presentation

For this course 3 ECTS are awarded. The grading mainly depends on the extent to which the presentation covers the practical challenges of the treated issue.

The complete module is graded using a weighted addition of the grade for the written exam (Energy Systems) and the grade for the presentation.


In this seminar, knowledge of the energy market gained from the lecture "Energy Economics" in the previous term will be required. Although the presentations can be held in English, good German language skills will be required to follow the lecture.
